BA Dance & Psychology, MA Psychotherapy US, Dip Counselling NZ.

MNZAC, ACC reg, PANZA, PATHA.

I am a therapist, group facilitator, supervisor & disability advocate.

My passion is supporting people to achieve, learn, and grow, by using mentoring, education, modelling, guidance, and advocacy.

In working with clients both individually and in groups, my aim is to provide a safe and nurturing environment which fosters the development of emotional resilience, inner authority, and autonomy, and supports individual learning styles and preferences in addition to knowledge and skills.

The name of my counselling business, Finding Balance, reflects my values and my approach to life.

I work in private practice in the Top of the South region supporting clients who have experienced trauma through the ACC Sensitive Claims process.

I also work with clients who identify as neuro-diverse and members of the Rainbow Community.

I trained as a Dance/Movement Therapist in the US and as a Psychosynthesis counsellor in NZ and have over 30 years’ experience working in the mental health and disability field.  I also worked for 15 years as a tai chi instructor and volunteer in my community as a facilitator of the Women of Worth programme.

I am enthusiastic about supporting people to feel resourced, empowered, and fully engaged in their lives.  I promote the therapeutic use of the body/mind connection, and employ tools and techniques from the creative arts therapies, Non-Violent Communication, Somatic Psychotherapy, and Sand-tray work.

I support people in my area to foster their personal growth and development through workshops and experiential opportunities.  I am an active member in the Conscious Dance community and promote movement-based self-care practices for my fellow community of health and well-being practitioners, as well as my clients.
